On October 10, KELC hosted our international partners for our annual Joint Mission Committee of Kenya (JMCK) meeting. We welcomed representatives from our mission partners in Germany, the United States, and Tanzania. We received guests from Evangelical Lutheran Church of Bavaria, Mission EineWelt, Nordkirche Weltweit- Zentrum für Mission und Ökumene, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania, Rantzau Munsterdorf, and Niederberg.
We gathered together in the KELC Youth Centre in Nairobi to discuss the activities of the KELC over the previous year and to envision the future of KELC mission partnerships. The meeting was opened with a devotion lead by Bishop Zachariah Kahuthu. Together we meditated on the scripture verse Acts 2:42: And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread and in prayers. Following our devotion, the meeting continued with discussions of KELC operations. We received reports from the JMCK coordinating secretary, the KELC treasury office, as well as the KELC department directors. After a day of lively discussion and reflection on KELC’s operations and future plans, we concluded our meeting with a devotion from Revelation 3:14-22.
The KELC leadership values time with our mission partners. Together we are working toward achieving our vision that all people may have life and have it abundantly. We look forward to working together during the coming year, and to meeting again next year.
